Refractory bricks are abbreviated as firebricks. Refractory materials made by firing refractory clay or other refractory materials. Light yellow or brownish in color. Mainly used for building smelting furnaces, capable of withstanding high temperatures ranging from 1580 ℃ to 1770 ℃. Also known as firebricks. Refractory materials with a certain shape and size. According to the preparation process, it can be divided into fired bricks, unburned bricks, electric fused bricks (fused cast bricks), and fire-resistant and insulated bricks; According to shape and size, it can be divided into standard bricks, ordinary bricks, special bricks, etc. It can be used as high-temperature building materials and structural materials for building kilns and various thermal equipment, and can withstand various physical and chemical changes and mechanical effects at high temperatures. For example, refractory clay bricks, high alumina bricks, silica bricks, magnesium bricks, etc.

There are many factors that affect the plasticity of clay. One is the generation time, mineral type, crystal morphology and crystallinity of clay minerals. The kaolinite composed of highly ordered kaolinite has low plasticity; The opposite is true for kaolinite, which is composed of low ordered kaolinite. In addition, the particle size, cation exchange ability, and type of exchangeable cations of clay all affect its plasticity. In actual production, the main methods to increase the plasticity of raw materials are:

① Selecting materials to remove non plastic impurities such as quartz;

② The selected material is finely ground to increase its Dispersity;

③ Add an appropriate amount of plastic material binder, such as pulp waste liquid, dextrin, etc;

④ Vacuum extrusion treatment of mud;

⑤ Extend the trapped material time.

The binding ability of raw materials refers to the combination of clay materials and non plastic materials, forming plastic mud balls and possessing certain drying strength capabilities. The bonding property of bonded clay is usually reflected by the amount of standard quartz sand (particle composition of 0.25~0.15mm accounts for 70%, 0.15~0.09mm accounts for 30%) and the flexural strength after drying when it can form a plastic clay mass. Generally, the clay with strong plasticity has strong binding capacity (there are exceptions, for example, Nanning spherical clay is very pure with fine particle size and good plasticity. However, due to its large surface energy to absorb more water, large dehydration shrinkage during drying, and many cracks generated, the drying strength is poor. Its plasticity index can reach 36~47, while the bending strength is only 0.48Mpa.

Construction procedures for refractory brick masonry:

——Construction of dynamic kilns and static kilns

(1) Construction Procedure for Dynamic Kiln

1. The dynamic furnace masonry must be carried out after the single machine no-load trial run acceptance of the furnace is qualified.

The basic procedure for masonry is:

The selection of the starting point should be carried out from the hot end to the cold end or from the low end to the high end. Bricks should be cleaned, marked, and selected according to the needs of different materials of refractory bricks in the cold and hot sections. Qualified bricks should be selected. If there are anchor nails or support bricks, welding of the anchor nails or support bricks should be carried out. If there is an insulation layer (such as calcium silicate board), the installation of the insulation layer should be done first. The mortar should be prepared and used, and the expansion gap of the bricks should be reserved and filled with mortar that matches the refractory bricks.

(2) Construction Procedure for Static Kiln

Select the starting point (usually from bottom to top, from the hot end to the cold end) and lay a line (usually based on the lowest air outlet or inspection port)
